I love it when folks give me suggestions for what to create. This one comes from Manda (Nibbles Skribbles). She wanted a quick and easy way to make splats ... you know, those paint splatter thingies that you see in elements packs ... and she really didn't want to buy a bunch of brushes to make them. Great idea! What I came up with was a template that has layers with brushes on them along with an action that takes the layers you want for your splat and creates a new document for you with only those layers in it.
This particular template contains 5 different brush types each with 6 brushes in them. I've grouped them for the PS users and have provided another set for PSE users that doesn't group the layers. The brush types for this template include base (mainly splashes), drips, drops, spatter, and accent brushes. Pick and chose what you want, then run the New Doc from Layers action to move them into their own document. While you can also modify the layers in the template, moving them insures that you don't accidently overwrite your template ... and you don't have to deal with 30 layers.
This tool set contains 1 set of layered templates (PSD, TIF) with grouped layers (for PS users) and 1 set without grouped layers (for PSE users). I've also included the PNGS for folks that can't use layered files. There is also an action set that has the 2 actions - Make Doc from Layers and Ungroup Layers ( I was only going to distribute grouped templates and changed my mind). These actions only run in PS and PSE11-13, but you can always use the template as-is in other versions of PSE.
Output (splats) from the template is ok for commercial use along with S4H, S4O, and Personal Use friendly. You MAY NOT create brushes nor distribute the individual images/brushes contained in the template. You may also use the output for creating freebies.
No credit required for the use of these items, but it's definitely appreciated.
